It’s time to fertilize

alaska fish fertilizer, gallon

It’s important to give your plants a little boost in the early spring.  Applying an organic fertilizer to the beds at this time will help your plants get growing in  a healthy way.  I like to use liquid fish emulsion, such at Neptune’s Harvest Hydrolyzed Fish Fertilizer or Alaska Fish Fertilizer.

It is very easy to apply fish emulsion.  I use a 2.5 gallon watering can but you can use a sprayer of a garden hose attachment.  There is a bit of odor with fish fertilizer but if you apply the fertilizer in the morning and head off for the day the smell will dissipate.   Besides, since you know that your garden will benefit it’s not much of a problem.

I repeat this process in early summer and that keeps the plants happy right through the fall.

Get going …
